scrisa de Viper...
Bursucel
By: “Baby” Scoompy Viper Poofy II
In memory of my wild friend, Bursucu Raposatu’.
It was once upon a time in an agitated place I call home. It looked like a motel getting ready for seasonal business with people shuffling things around. One evening, my master took me for a drive to town and went to that thing on the wall that spits out other people’s papers. Those papers that he always shuffles in his hand when he gets me goodies. The next morning, off we went. He had me in my “cutzu house” in the back seat of my car and as usual I didn’t know what to think. Lately, after long trips in the cutzu house, I end up in new and exciting places, but I sometimes remember that dreadful trip from that far off land. Regardless, even on that dreadful trip nice people would get me ice cubes to lick and food to look at …I even got one of my chewy toys on that trip and it ended in reuniting with my master. My master also tells me to be good and eat well, so I can grow up and travel to that far-off land during winters and play with my friends Poofy and Trish, whom I left behind. And Mommy……she always got me that good sliced cheese that my master says he’s too poor to get me. Who knows? Maybe I’ll see her before winter .
We left in the morning after my master packed my car with all the black bags and junk that he usually does…thank God that he got my travel bag. He always does and always packs my brush, bowl and at least a toy. Hmmm, I wonder….he never brings the toy I got on that long trip in the cutzu house…
After what seemed an eternity, I felt my car stop and my master shut the engine. I get wiggly and tap the wall of the cutzu house when I hear the engine shut down, because sometimes my master lets me out. This time he got me out. The pace had young trees and tall grass with violet and yellow flowers. He tied me up next to a big round bunker of concrete that was shaded. I hate being tied up. My Mommy never tied me up…but then again, my Mommy left the house for long hours every day, while my master’s always around. God and bad, every way you look at it. While I was trying to tell him that I need attention and was getting irritated with all the other speeding but “ not harmful” cars on the road, my master was busy shuffling noisy and rusty irons next to that concrete bunker. Out came a leaky bucket that my master splashed some water on his face and kneeled down and cupped his hand so I can get a few licks. It was good and cold, but I cared little about drinking, as two horseys pulling a carriage were approaching. He then took me on a walk in that tall grass. Gosh, it was great! I wish he’d let loose of the leash. I had to go pishu, but thought that if I did, I’d be back in the cutzu house immediately. So it happened and off we went. Dreadful hours followed of the cutzu house shacking in my car and my master sometimes talking to that small black box I hate so much. Why does he need to talk to that box instead of talk and play with me? But as good things come to those who wait, I waited patiently. My car stopped at last and my master sighed with relief. He took me out. It was a pretty place and the air smelled differently. Lots of horse shit and pine trees in the aroma. He walked me on leash next to a body of water that I don’t remember seeing before. Funny how the water shuffled in one direction…I think the two legged creatures and my master call it a river…anyway, the fun was short lived. Back to the cutzu house. A huge two legged creature with hair covered face, that my master seemed to hold dear, rushed my master to get all the junk out of the my car and into another huge car. The hairy creature grabbed the cutzu house and placed me in the back of that huge car. It was outside, and I was afraid. I felt a little more comfortable when I saw that my master got inside that same car. We left my car behind. What followed was very strange. Though the car was moving slowly, I was tossed around in the cutzu house and splashed with that wonderful muddy water I swear I don’t understand these two legged creatures…with all that muddy water, why would anyone travel by car? The car stopped and I could hear kids… wiggly again…good things do come to those who wait. The hairy creature was throwing orders around to everyone, my master included. But my master paid no attention and was focused on me through the bars of the cutzu house. Four noisy kids lined up around my master and he gave them some instructions. What followed was great! My master got me out, scratched my chin and licked me in that way he does without using his tongue…strange…why don’t the two legged creatures lick to show affection?...and let me go with a kid girl that seemed close to the big hairy creature. She had me on leash, with two other girls her age and a smaller boy petting me roughly. I don’t mind when kids pet me roughly, I love it! I beautiful place it was. Smelled like horse shit, chicken shit, pine trees and steak! Wow, could this be the destination? I hope so, cause I like being papered by these kids
“Ursu’” !!! !!! I have a new found friend!!! Wow! He’s a baby…huh, I’ll show him, I’m older, he’s only 4 and ½ months old, but Golly he’s huge! He’s already 50% bigger than me… I better play equals with this one…what am I gonna do? It seems that this is the destination, but I don’t have enough time…how am I gonna be able to be with the kids and Ursu. Wow, chickens!!! Food!!! Oh no, my master and the hairy creature don’t let me hunt chickens…what a shame . Kids, I love you, but let me play with Ursu. Ursu, hold on. I’ll be right back after I play with the kids.
I know they’re talking about me. Important meeting with the hairy creature, another two legged creature that seems to be his brother and another that smells local. I feel the weight on my master’s shoulders and his feeling of uncertainty. He tells the hairy creature about book written by wise men about my folk in the UK, long before our forefathers existed on these grounds and how I like to chase game, rabbits especially and how I’m too young to be let loose in these mountains filled with game. As I feel everything my master does, I feel the bricks being laid one by one on his shoulders by the others in their conversation. He says a prayer and tells me that he loves me and kisses me and tells me that outside of him and Mommy nobody loves him more in this whole world and says another prayer. My master lost the argument…he hardly ever does. I get to run free So many smells, so many kids, so many rooms, so many two legged creatures, Ursu, never ending fields… Yes! Speed in tall grass, that’s what it’s all about! Wrestling matches with Ursu! He took me top speed ¼ mile away in the neighboring field to show me his mom. She was a German Shepherd guard dog, tied up. She told me to be careful and stay between her and Ursu. She told me that she’s tied up ¼ mile away to warn the two legged creatures at night in case the real Ursu comes. Oh, silly Ursu, I’ll teach you. Come buddy and I’ll show you how to get goodies. Let’s run back because I remember smelling steak. But Viper, don’t you know that the hairy creature doesn’t let your master give me bones, because I’ll get used to the good life? Come Ursu, let me handle it, I got a way with begging and long ears and droopy eyes. If the big creatures don’t give us goodies, we work the kids. They’ll give us the best stuff! Come, I’ll bet you I can get there first! Slam the brake pedal ½ way there, for a quick wrestling match in the tall grass on the way…
See, it’s all here, watch the way, I operate. Fruitcake, cozonac, drob, lamb chop bones, sunflower seeds yummy! Who cares if you get sick, it tastes great and the kids are the source! My master will surely give us bones, then we work the kids for all the other stuff.
The kids are being put away and I was the only one allowed in their room. Ursu can’t go in there Night is falling and another important meeting is taking place among my master and the other two legged creatures.
TO BE CONTINUED WHEN TIME AND MOOD ALLOWS…
